Front 9 Travel has been established by two experienced golf and sports travel industry experts Richard Axelsen and Steve Watson, between us we have over 60 years’ experience of delivering high end quality holidays to the golf and sports travel market, combined with a deep understanding of the corporate and leisure traveller’s needs. We pride ourselves on having a collective in-depth knowledge of the resorts featured on this website.
We are dedicated to finding solutions for our clients that are of the highest quality but also a value for money offering. We can give the corporate traveller a great deal of flexibility with our ability to access great airfares and hotel rates in an impressive range of high quality venues and destinations. Many corporate clients, not only book their business events but go on to use us to create unique leisure travel experiences.

Richard Axelsen
Richard has over 40 years experience within the travel industry, covering all aspects of travel, including corporate travel, retail travel and tour operating. Over the last 15 years, he has been focusing on marketing and sales roles within sports travel, predominately on golf. At Destination Golf as well providing golf holidays, the company acted in partnership with Virgin Atlantic to develop a sports product to support their various sporting initiatives. In 2017 he became Head of Sports for ST Sport’s part of Southall Travel, the role was to set up their Sports Product. After successfully achieving this, Richard left in 2019 to format Front 9 Travel, bringing all his contacts and expertise to create a niche sports travel company, offering travel solutions to the golf industry and beyond. Some of his favourite destinations include; Portugal, Mexico and South Africa. Richard believes passionately in offering a professional and friendly service to all clients.
Steve Watson
Steve (Sporting Highlights) joins the Front9 Travel Team, with over 45 years’ experience travelling the world playing and organising sports tours. Steve is a dedicated sportsman with a passion for sports tourism, he has a vast knowledge of premier sport and holiday destinations with a keen understanding of what the travellers are looking for in a successful sports tour experience. He has worked on all levels of sports travel from Commonwealth Games, World Cups, International Sports Team & Supporters Travel (Cricket, Rugby, Grand Prix, Table Tennis, Netball) to Clubs, Schools Sports & Educational Travel. Sporting Highlights was formed in 2007 to deliver to supporters an exceptional sporting experience around the world, “Creating Memories That Last a lifetime” and have been involved in organising Lawn Bowls Tours around the World since 2004 for the Loyal Bowls Supporters– Steve is a keen Golfer, Rugby supporter and the Chairperson of Disability Bowls England Charity Trust.
